Privacy Policy for Freeriders
Privacy-First Commitment: Freeriders is built to respect your privacy. We do not sell your personal data, track you across third-party apps or websites, or store your recorded routes on external servers.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how your information is handled when you use the Freeriders iOS mobile application ("the App").
By downloading and using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
2. Information Stored Locally & iCloud Sync
All content you create or record in Freeriders — including recorded tracks, mountain sessions, elevation profiles, timestamps, notes, and preferences:
- Is stored directly on your physical device in private application sandboxes.
- Can optionally be synchronized securely across your Apple devices using your personal Apple iCloud account.
- We do not operate proprietary backend storage servers for your session data. We do not have access to your personal iCloud documents or credentials.
3. Location Services & Motion Data
Freeriders provides tracking capabilities for freeriding, skiing, snowboarding, and mountain activities on your iPhone:
- GPS & Precise Location: When you start a recording session, the App uses your device’s GPS to measure route coordinates, speed, descent distance, and elevation changes.
- Background Location: Location tracking may continue when the device is locked or the App is in the background only while a live tracking session is active. A persistent system indicator will always notify you when background location is active.
- On-Device Processing: Your location data is processed locally on your device and is never broadcast or sold to third-party data brokers.
4. HealthKit Integration
If you choose to connect Freeriders to Apple HealthKit:
- The App may read and record workout activity, heart rate, and active calories burned during your mountain sessions.
- HealthKit data is never used for marketing, advertising, or sold to third parties, adhering strictly to Apple's HealthKit guidelines.
5. Analytics & Diagnostics
To ensure stability and fix technical issues:
- We may utilize anonymous, aggregated diagnostic frameworks (such as Apple Crash Reporter or privacy-focused analytics).
- These diagnostics help identify crash logs, device hardware models, and OS versions without containing personally identifiable information (PII).
6. Children's Privacy
Freeriders is designed for general audiences and outdoor sports enthusiasts. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features or legal requirements. Any modifications will be posted directly on this page with an updated revision date.
8. Contact & Inquiries
